stop wasting space here. Death's influence must have been enormous judging by the sheer numbers who turned up turned up to his tribute gigs i went to. Anyone want to aid their cause rather than talk crap and suggest to me their strongest album? I only questioned whether Death suddenly had some new attention because of the tragedy of Chuck's own death - im not meaning to belittle his dying, but posthumous over-zealous appreciation has always been seen (look at Kurt Kobain for one) - and as i had had yet to be really stirred by some Death, i suspected there may be some of this. If one of the good EMD forum'ers will recommend to me 'this album' or 'that one', much obliged. We have a similar case here in Norway with Terje "Valfar" Bakken of Windir who died, and is now suddenly after his death idolised by all the bm children in this nation.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm certainly no more or less of a Death fan now then I was before Chuck's death. Their music, their drummers (Sean Reinhart, Gene Hogland, Richard Christy, etc.) always were a big inspiration for me, and Chuck was definitely one of the most friendly and kind hearted people in the entire extreme metal scene. As for specific album recomendations, try "Human" and "The Sound of Perseverence"

As for specific album recomendations, try "Human" and "The Sound of Perseverence" Martin Walkyrier came to an extreme metal night (i live in a big city) where everyone came to pay tribute to Chuck Schuldiner (even myself) - i respect their influence, i said it was more my lack of really being 'grabbed' by what i heard of them that made me wonder if everyone outr ther might be able to explain what it is that they personally like so much about such a band. i didnt mean to say every fan jumps on the bandwagon by the way - i meant more actually in some circles you now cannot say ''Death werent that special to me...'' or whatever because people have taken the attitude that due to his untimely demise we must all love his art. However like you said about lars's playing > if one man can influence that many musicians, he's doing something right. RIP chuck schuldiner

i love death, especially chuck's (r.i.p.) guitar work. it is a shame that he had to pass and such a young age. i can't wait for the tribute album to come out.

I just started getting into this band. Gene Hoglan's drumming is unreal. I knew he was great but his style is amazing. The songs are really tight too. Symbolic is an excellent album altogether. I'm also digging Richard Christy's work on "The Sound of Perseverance" I always assumed this band was lacking because of the generic name, but boy have I been wrong.
